Welcome Dr Tanith Harte!
Back in August we welcomed Dr Tanith Harte to the research team. Tanith has a PhD in Neuroimmunology plus a BSc in Micobiology and Immunology. She is off to a fabulous start, working under the supervision of Dr David Smith in Moredun’s pioneering organoid team. She is looking forward to meeting you at one of our events this year.

Tanith says ‘Currently I’m growing organoids (miniature organs!) from equine tissues such as gut and nervous system, which can be used to identify genetic and protein differences between EGS and healthy cases. These can also be used to test suspected causal agents further down the line!’
We wish Tanith all the best with her investigations, and will bring you news of her findings as we go along.
We would not do this work without you! We are eternally grateful everyone who has rolled up their sleeves to get involved, from across the equine world
