Pub quiz raises £1523 for grass sickness research

Congratulations to friends Mairi Reid and Lynne Clark whose pub quiz and raffle exceeded all their expectations in raising a fabulous £1523!

Aberdeen University student Mairi was devastated when two horses at her yard were lost to grass sickness, including her very own horse Brendan.

Lynne said: ‘He was only 4 years old and was lost to EGS in the space of 4 hours. He was so special, so kind, so generous, a beautiful, gentle soul but cheeky and inquisitive too! He had such a bright future and was so loved. All the hopes and dreams that Mairi had put in him were lost in the blink of an eye. We all miss him so much.’

Friends and family rallied round to try to ensure that something positive could be done to try and prevent future cases, and the idea of the pub quiz was born.

The quiz took place at the Siberia Vodka Bar, with raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses, friends and family.
