EGSF at the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon

We are very excited to tell you that we have our very first ever runner for EGSF at the 2016 London Marathon! Naomi, a dairy farmer from South Staffordshire, was devastated when she lost her 4 year old mare Ruby to EGS in May 2013.  Ruby put up a huge fight with the help of Naomi and her amazing vets but it was not to be, and on the 6th May 2013 Naomi’s world was torn apart as Ruby passed away. For a while she could not eat or sleep and was too down in the dumps to run. Yet her other two ponies needed her and the cows still needed milking and slowly she started to gather herself together, realising the great lesson Ruby taught her, that life is so short and precious.

Time goes on, life moves on but Ruby and EGS are never far from Naomi’s mind: ‘the thought of raising funds for EGSF is all the drive I need to get me going again and push myself to achieve what in my mind in the ultimate British runner’s dream of crossing that London Marathon finish line’.

Naomi is currently running around 10-15km per week, following a training plan that her local running shop helped her out with. She has lots of fundraising ideas in the pipeline and we will keep you up dated with her progress. Best of luck with your training Naomi!
