A New Face for Grass Sickness Fund

Many of you have been surprised to hear a new voice on the phone at EGSF, and even more surprised to hear that Joyce McIntosh, secretary of the fund since it began in 1988, has retired.

Stepping into Joyce’s shoes is new administrator Kate Thomson, who worked for Guide Dogs for the Blind for many years, before taking a break to raise her children. Kate is a passionate horse enthusiast and keen supporter of local grassroots organisations, including the pony club and riding clubs. She has three lovely horses of her own, and has kept them very much in mind as she tackles the steep learning curve involved with her new job.

‘My horses are my life’ Kate said, ‘and like any other horse owner the thought of losing one is unbearable. It is absolutely essential that we isolate the cause of this devastating disease, and put an end to the suffering’.

Kate is very much looking forward to the challenge of promoting the EGSF and raising vital funds for continued research, and thanks all our supporters for their interest and generosity.
