Residual Damage Study Ends

In order to gain a better understanding of why some chronic cases recover, a study was conducted by Professor Elspeth Milne, Head of Veterinary Pathology at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Professor Milne investigated the residual damage present in the autonomic nervous system in cases which had recovered and were being put down months to years later, often for unrelated reasons.

She has sufficient numbers of well-documented post mortems now to allow her to write up her work, the results of which will be posted on our website in due course.

The Equine Grass Sickness Fund and Professor Milne wish to thank those of you who enabled this study to go ahead, thereby making a valuable contribution towards grass sickness research.
